assault in Maryland and had a
sexual assault forensic exam
(SAFE), you have rights over
your sexual assault evidence kit
(“kit”). These rights can help you
make informed decisions about
your kit.

What to Do After Sexual Assault

One in four women
will be sexually assaulted in their
lifetime. Many do not report their
assault because they are threatened
by their offender or they feel that it
was somehow their fault. You DID
NOT deserve to be sexually assaulted,
but you DO deserve help and support.

Working to End Sexual Violence in Maryland

The mission of the Maryland
Coalition Against Sexual Assault
(MCASA) is to help prevent sexual
assault, advocate for accessible,
compassionate care for
survivors of sexual violence, and
work to hold offenders accountable.
Founded in 1982, MCASA has
worked for more than four decades
to end sexual violence in the State
of Maryland through public policy,
community outreach, education and
training, technical assistance, and
legal services.
